Description

Victorian Sterling Silver Propelling Pencil C1880

This is an antique solid silver thruster pencil.
Usually, the pencils from this era are not always hallmarked; this one is not but is acid tested for sterling.
The pencil is hexagonal and is decorated with beautiful hand-cut, cut and shiny foil patterns on the outside.
It has a simple raised stepped band at the bottom and a detachable screw taper end with foliate decoration and an enclosed white gemstone inset seal at the end.

The pencil has a central slide strip in the middle that extends and retracts the pencil tip.
It also has a twist-action tip that extends and retracts the pencil mechanism.
Both mechanisms work great.

The pencil will require a lead. It is an excellent collector's item.
